Two years ago I started work on a table top game with 3D printed components. It was called Wood Wars 3D. A year ago I had developed the game enough that I thought it was time to take it to the next level, so I launched a kickstarter to fund for the construction of sets Wood Wars 3D. What can I say, I had ambition and I wanted this game I’d been working on to have value. However the kickstarter failed to gain traction, and of course it did, I was asking people to pony up dough for a promise that it was worth it, and it might not have been. Humbled I tried to remain positive but since then really haven’t done much with the game.
Until now. Taking a cue from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I’m giving it away now.
Wood Wars 3D is now available on SourceForge, released opensource. To my knowledge this is the first open-source 3D printed strategy war game ever. To give you an idea of how big this game has become, tt has taken me days to get this compiled, uploaded, and typed up. I hope you like it. Go download the STLs and jpgs, fabricate yourself a set while you read the rules, maybe get to know the lore, then try out a game and let me know how it goes. Then, help out by spreading the word.
I’d like to say more, but there’s still a lot to do, and not enough time to do it. Just check it out, and let me know what you think. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
