I don’t think I’ve ever done a video like this. Usually when reviewing equipment I just use the equipment, maybe record some B-Roll while I’m working on it, and then sit in my shed and talk about it. But this time I decided to record the video while working on it. Part of the reason is I was fairly confident I knew how this would go. And part of the reason is I wanted to get this video out fast. But this meant I destroyed my production schedule for making any other video while I was working on this. And it didn’t make it any easier to edit because a few times I got ahead of myself, things went a little different, and I had whole sections of the video I had to edit out. Am I likely to do this sort of recording schedule again? Don’t know. Maybe not.
I will admit I was hoping the solar panel would be a bit more effective. This is the highest wattage solar panel Jackery makes, so I was a bit surprised that it wasn’t up to the task of charging their battery pack in a single day, even without a draw on it. Then again, even plugged it in took a little more than a day to charge it up from zero. This really is a huge capacity battery pack. But I guess that sets the expectation is that you won’t be charging up on solar every day, but will instead be using the panel to offset the loss a little until the end of your trip. Which is good to know.
Now, to go shopping for wheels for my survival wagon.
I am having the devil’s time selling Cute Cthulhu and Friends post-kickstarter. I thought maybe the price was too high, so I participated in Etsy’s big labor day sale, marked it down 35%, and it still didn’t sell a bunch. Maybe I should run an ad, but I think the problem is I just don’t have the bandwidth for marketing, selling, and manufacturing and design. So I’m looking for a partner to handle at least half of the process. If I can get these to sell, I can start expanding. That’s the dream, anyways.
