This was one of the only times I actually took the thumbnail at the same time as I recorded the video. But I had to do that because I made this whole prop box for this video and wanted to use it in the thumbnail.
The print didn’t turn out perfect, if I’m being honest. I had the flushing volumes a little too low and you can see a bit of the orange in the green and purple. I missed coloring one of the tentiles in the body red, but I did color it in the lid. Also, the process of hollowing it out had a few parts that were actually too thin and posed through the body, making it less water tight. Basically, if you held this in real life, which you’ll totally get a chance to if you come to the LA MakerFaire or RMRRF, then you can laugh at all the imperfections yourself.
I did a writeup on Patreon on how the redesigns on these original 4 cute Lovecraft monsters went. It’s probably something I will want to revisit in the future. But the fact that all these characters basically fit within the same cylindrical volume was no accident. Originally there were some that were more of piles, which is interesting and worked better for some, Otheyug in particular. But I prefer them with a more unified volume so that they can all fit in same alcoves in the mountain playset that will cap off this campaign.
