This is another one of those videos that came about because a review went south. The printer that Polo Cloud was made for is actually a good printer. But the app is so bad that this was the only thing I could do with it. A message of warning to others and hope for the future.
PrintABlok is blowing up, and the timing couldn’t be better. First Stefan from CNC Kitchen published an interview from when we got to sit down together at the RMRRF. Then the PrintABlok base set was given the featured spot on Printables. Then Hackaday latched on Stefan’s coverage to further boost the signal. All this attention, and the timing couldn’t be better. This week I finally got the PrintABlok Ultimate set together. This is something I’ve been planning on doing for a while. As PrintABlok continues to develop, there’s a desire to look backwards on what I’ve done and freshen it up. But that brought with it problems of distribution. Should I just overwrite the old ones? How do I notify people who had the old ones that there’s an update? The Ultimate set kind of answers that by being a line in the sand. What has been stands as it is, and what’s coming will be something new, based on the old sometimes, but not necessarily spending the time to revisit each set one-by-one.
And what’s coming is exciting. I’ve already dipped my toes into landcraft and pilots on Patreon. And together with the new hinge I have an excuse to freshen up some of those old sets. I’ve already redesigned the light mech into a set I’m going to call the chicken walker. And there’s the possibility of a whole new set of robo mechs based around the new hinges.
If you’re impressed with PrintABloks now, just till you see what’s coming next.
