I can’t tell you how good it feels to finally have Blender setup. I feel like the Absolute Beginner’s Guide to 3D Modeling in Blender 2.8 has had me working with one hand behind my back. Now that Blender all setup, especially my choice of plugins, I am ready to work at full power.
Huge thanks to Imonsei on the 3DPProfessor Discord who put together a google doc that helped me organize my thoughts.
No Wednesday video this week. I would love to have had something to put up, but sometimes all I have the bandwidth for is one video, and I really want to do more of these Blender videos. They might not be the sort of thing that will tickle the YouTube algorithm, but it’s the sort of thing I expect people will be searching for for a while to come. Evergreen. That to me is worth making a priority on.
I also decided to grit my teeth and put ad breaks on these videos. I know I hate it too, but this is content I could and should be selling on Udemy or something, and I’m giving it away free. And these videos definitely meet the length requirements for YouTube to allow for add breaks. So why not? This could go either way. Either the YouTube algorithm could decide that since I put ads on these videos and they’re making them more money that they’ll get promoted by the algorithm. Or they could totally put people off my videos. We’ll see.
Introduction
Blender 2.8. Free, fantastic, and capable of making 3D models for 3D printing. Technically it’s an animation program, but it’s also completely configurable, so you can set it up. In this chapter we’ll do the setup to make Blender perfect for 3D modeling for 3D printing
