I hope I don’t come off as bagging on CNC in this video. That wasn’t my intent. CNC is an amazing technology that 3D printing owes a lot to. However, the necessity of a slicer solved a lot of the problems CNC routing had, in that you had to design with the end in mind. There’s a reason there’s no thingiverse for CNC plans. The CNC plans don’t share well because they’re so tied to the hardware. It’s powerful, in that it can produce more structurally stable parts than 3D printing. I just don’t know if it’s worth giving up everything else 3D printing can do.
This video was, what I would call, guerrilla video making. I shot it on a 4k sports camera on a selfie stick, lit with USB LED desk lamps, and audio on a TASCAM shotgun mic. The video had to be dewarped and cropped. Fortunately, Hitfilm is capable and the 4k camera gave me lots of pixels to work with, so the final video doesn’t look too bad, I think. It’s also a short video, which made editing and finishing faster. All in all this gets the reviews you want in your hands faster and I can shoot a video wherever I am with just a backpack.
This video also featured a new title card with art from @DeezMalone. Do you like it? I plan to print up some giveaways of this art for ERRF and future event.
