You might not have seen this video in my usual channel. This video went up for my makerspace channel, my day job. It was specifically to basically record something I end up saying several times a week, with slightly higher production values. Slightly.
Production-wise, this video was a lot more like the videos I used to do. Single shot, no editing. I didn’t even sweeten the audio. I just opened up OBS, threw everything together, and hit upload. Part of the reason for this is there’s no point in putting too much effort into these videos since no one is likely to watch them anyways. It does require a little more pre-planning, and it usually requires I restart several times. I did, in fact, get to the end 3 times with this one before I had a take that I liked from start to end. But over all I spent less time making this video that I do with the ones on my other channel.
But over all I don’t think the quality wasn’t that much worse. Sure, the video suffered a bit because I went back to the webcam. If I could get a video capture card I could potentially do this with the new camera, tho. But would people watch videos like that from me again on my main channel?
The recording setup is, admittedly, a little jankey. Cheap second screen, webcam on a wooden dowl, and a mic on a stand I literally threw together this morning. But that’s what I got this computer for. So I could do jankey recordings on the fly wherever I am. So this kinda feels good to be using it like this. I hate to be buzzing about this experience, because I don’t want to lose sight of what I’m doing with my other channel. But this video… kinda felt good, man.
