8 things you’ll see in future 3D printers video

“Cartesian XY”. One of my most common slip of the tongues is calling “Cartesian XY” 3D printers “Core XY” which isn’t correct. Technically Core XY is a subset of Cartesian XY systems. CoreXY is when the motors for X and Y movement are stationary and the X and Y movement is driven by a belt that loops around both motors and crosses over at the head. Because they’re both going through the head, both motors have to move in tandum to do straight X or Y movement. It’s kinda cool. But it’s not what I was seeing at MRRF. So when I kept saying “Core XY” when recording my video I had to fix it in post. And, maybe as a reminder to my future self not to do that any more, I decided to make it stick out like a sore thumb.

While this is my first MRRF video, this isn’t my first reporting on MRRF. I made blog posts for both days, one of them on the day of. And you can read them here:

I wanted to wait a while to do my MRRF videos. I knew everyone else was going to jump on that and I wanted to stand out… by being late to the party. And I thought this was a good angle. But while I was at MRRF my camera didn’t take very good pictures, and I ended up with very little to use in a video, which is why this one is so talky-talky. I need to plan better for BAMF so I don’t run into that same problem.

MRRF definitely inspired me. I walked away from it wanting to do bigger projects than ever before. However, it also drained the coffers, so it’s time to start the next big thing if I want to do any of those project. I’m hoping it does well enough that I can… well, let’s not count our chickens too early.
